Senior Structural Engineer – Bridge

The Senior Structural Engineer will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in the filed of Bridge/Structural Engineering. The position requires, at the minimum, a Bachelor degree in Civil/Structural Engineering and registration in the state of California as a Professional Engineer (Civil). Registration as a Structural Engineer will be desirable. The position entails hands-on design and project production-related activities, project management and leadership, as well as mentoring and training of the less senior staff.

The qualities of the top candidate will include a deep grasp of the California bridge design practice and construction, as well as experience with other structural design work, such as those involving small buildings, water conveyance, sewer infrastructure, etc. The candidate shall be well-versed in the use and interpretation of all codes, policies and philosophy of design, including earthquake-resistant design, as established by California Department of Transportation (Caltrans). Adeptness in the application and understanding of the various specific bridge design software is a must and a working knowledge of other related analysis software such as SAP, Visual Analysis, and drafting programs, such as AutoCAD or MicroStation, are highly desirable. Better than average writing skills are part of the job responsibilities

Other attributes of the competitive candidates will include knowledge and experience with client relations, marketing, proposal writing and interview preparation.


Bridge Engineer III

The Bridge Engineer III at CIC will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the filed of Bridge/Structural Engineering. The position requires, at the minimum, a Bachelor degree in Civil/Structural Engineering and registration in the state of California as a Professional Engineer (Civil), or qualification for taking the examination. The position entails hands-on design and project production-related activities, leading projects as Project Engineer, as well as mentoring and training of the junior staff.

The qualities of the top candidate will include a deep grasp of the California bridge design practice and construction, as well as experience with other structural design work, such as those involving walls, culverts, sign structures, etc. The candidate shall be well-versed in the use and interpretation of Caltrans Bridge Design Specifications, including earthquake-resistant design. Adeptness in the application and understanding of the various specific bridge design software is a must. Familiarity with other related analysis and CAD software such as SAP, Visual Analysis, and AutoCAD are highly desirable. Other responsibilities include quantity and cost estimating, report writing and construction observation. Good oral and writing communication skills are part of the job responsibilities.


Structural CAD Technician III

The Structural CAD Technician III (Struc III) will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in computer drafting of bridges and/or other structures. A 2- or 4-year university degree in construction management, engineering or drafting is desirable. Experience must include drafting of concrete and steel structures and extensive familiarity with the Caltrans bridge detailing procedures. The candidate must be fully skilled with AutoCAD and MicroStation CAD software.

Struc III at CIC will lead, train and mentor the other CAD technician and regulate the production of the project drafting schedule and workload. This lead position entails implementing companywide standards and procedures for uniform production and quality control of engineering plans. The candidate will be capable of laying out bridge plans and other structures independently and create the project "skeleton" sheets for the design engineer. Other responsibilities include performing quantity calculations.
